Dixon Boots

Dixon Boots is the heritage brand of the Bespoke Western house: the traditional Texas cowboy boot. By the brand's own account, Dixon traces its craft to 1889, when Henry Dixon, a preacher and part-time bootmaker, began making boots and taught his sons the trade. In 1945 his sons Andy and Noble brought the Dixon Boot Company to Wichita Falls, Texas. Its line today is "History worn bold since 1889."

Who is Dixon Boots?

Dixon is the house brand for the buyer who wants the classic cowboy boot as it has always looked: a tall shaft, a cowboy heel, and stitching that means something. Where Alvies is the modern Austin on-ramp and Hevias is the quiet Dallas dress boot, Dixon is the straight-ahead Texas boot with a name that goes back further than either. Dixon sells through dixonboots.com and is now also stocked on bespokewestern.com.

What does Dixon make?

Men's and women's cowboy boots. On bespokewestern.com at the time of writing: The 1889, the boot Dixon says it is known for, at $575; The 1945, named for the year the company moved to Texas, at $450; The 1996, a dark chestnut men's roper, at $400; The Vaquera, a women's boot in brown calfskin with a custom stitch pattern, at $450; and The Yellow Rose, a women's boot designed by Dallas artist Elizabeth Dryden, at $500. Prices and sizes change; the product page is the source of truth.

How are Dixon boots built?

Dixon describes its boots as handcrafted. Construction varies across the line: the house notes that not every Dixon boot is Goodyear welted, and some styles carry rubber soles. Read the construction line on each product page before you buy, since a welted boot can be resoled and a cemented one usually cannot, and see how a cowboy boot should fit before you pick a size.

Where does Dixon fit in the house?

Dixon is the heritage tier. Alvies is the on-ramp, Hevias is the premium men's line, and Olsen-Stelzer is the made-to-measure custom tier. All four sit under Bespoke Western, the House of Western Brands founded by George Frederick Baker, Sr.
