All About The Riverside

Austin has beautiful weather about 8 months out of the year. But for 4 (sometimes 5) months, it can be hellishly hot. Soul-crushingly hot. Luckily, it also has plenty of places to cool off: lakes, rivers, swimming holes (for swimming), watering holes (for boozing), shady trails, and more.

The footwear of choice for the blistering months (and most other months) is the flip-flop. As all locals know, having the wind on your toes makes it feel 10 degrees cooler. You can wear flip-flops pretty much anywhere and not feel out of place. The nicest restaurant in town. College graduation. A board meeting. Your arraignment for that little misunderstanding down on 6th Street about the legality of pedicab surfing.

    Too early to tell

    They are handsome and very well constructed, but though I ordered a half size up, they are uncomfortably tight. Many many other reviewers have said they start that way but stick with them - they will 'relax' to fit comfortably. I have worn at home for an hour for four evenings so far without change. But I have faith and will continue to try to make them fit. Stay tuned!

    The most amazing EVER!

    This must be pair 5 of these flops and it is the only flop I will wear. The comfort is beyond great and the durability is outstanding. I suffer from neuropathy in both feet so comfortable shoes are an absolute must.

    For me, I wear these almost daily and after about a year I buy a new pair to have on hand for those days when I will be walking on hard surfaces all day long. The sad part is that the older pair has molded perfectly to my feet and are even more comfortable after doing this but the lose a little cushion so I have my new pair for those days only. I wear the worn ones around the house and leave the new ones in the closet. Did I mention this is easy to do because these flops are so well made and comfortable that there is zero break-in required. Pull them out of the box and you are ready to go. Keep up the amazing work guys!

    From NonDiscernible to Discernible!

    My husband had no idea how bad his inexpensive flip flops actually were until he slipped into his Alvie’s !

    He actually sent me a text at work with a picture of his Alvie’s on his feet. He loves them!

    These are killer

    It's the middle of December in Kentucky, so these have became my indoor footwear until it gets warmer. That being said, I've worn them a lot and they're extremely comfortable and are breaking in nicely. I typically wear a 10.5 in everything. I went with an 11 and that was the best move.
