Boot Parties: Cowboy Boots Fitted for Your Group

A boot party brings Alvies cowboy boots and a fitting crew to your group: an office, a wedding party, a bachelorette weekend or a room of clients. A party is booked with $2,500 paid up front. It covers travel and setup, and it works as a minimum spend: your group spends it on boots at the event, at 20% off retail. Custom engraving is available at an additional charge.

Alvies runs the parties. It is the Austin, Texas boot brand inside the Bespoke Western house, founded in 2014 by Alvie Faulkenbery IV and Clay Sexton. In its own words, "Boot Party is a personalized boot-fitting that we bring directly to you."

What is a boot party?

A boot party is a group fitting that comes to you. The Alvies crew brings a selection of boots in the sizes and styles your group picks, and each guest tries them on and leaves with a pair that fits.

Alvies has done this since its start. The brand says it "sold out of our Airstream for six years," and it still takes the Airstream to pop-ups and events around Austin.

How does a boot party work?

You request a date on the Alvies booking form, Alvies confirms the details with you, and the crew shows up with the boots.

  1. Fill in the Alvies booking form: your city or area, your name, email and phone, and the number of guests.
  2. Alvies follows up to set the date and the styles to bring. Tell them the sizes and widths in your group so the right pairs come.
  3. The crew sets up at your office, venue or home. Travel and setup sit inside the $2,500 paid up front.
  4. Each guest tries on boots with help from the crew and picks a pair.
  5. Ask for engraving on any pair you want personalized. It costs extra.

The form's guest list runs from 1 to 20. The form also says "Holiday Bookings Are Almost Full," so book early for a December date.

What does a boot party cost?

A boot party costs $2,500, paid up front. That payment covers the crew's travel and setup, and it is also the minimum spend: your group spends the $2,500 on boots at the event. Every pair bought at the party is 20% off its retail price.

Term What it means for your group
$2,500 up front Covers travel and setup, and is spent on boots at the event as the group's minimum spend
20% off retail Applies to boots bought at a party Bespoke Western or Alvies throws
Custom engraving Available on request, at an additional charge
Booking Through the Alvies booking form; Alvies confirms date and styles

Plan the group so its boots add up to at least $2,500 at 20% off. Every dollar past that is your group's choice. Ask Alvies to match the styles they bring to your budget when they follow up.

Who books a boot party?

Groups who want everyone in good boots at the same time: offices, client events, wedding parties and bachelorette weekends.

  • Offices and teams. A holiday party or a year-end thank-you where every person goes home with a pair.
  • Client events. A client appreciation night with a gift people wear for years.
  • Wedding parties. The groom and groomsmen fitted in one session, ready for the day. See cowboy boots for a wedding and groomsmen gifts.
  • Bachelorette and birthday weekends. A fitting as the main event, before a night out in new boots.

How do the boots fit a whole group?

Each guest is fitted one at a time by the crew, so a group of mixed sizes and widths still ends up in boots that fit. Alvies stocks men's boots in D and EE widths.

Alvies' own try-on guide gives three checks. The boots have a wider toe box. A little heel slip, roughly ¼ to ½ an inch, is normal in a new pair. The width is the part that breaks in the most, so a snug fit across the ball of the foot loosens with wear.

What boots come to a boot party?

Alvies boots, in the styles your group picks. Every Alvies boot is Goodyear welted and made in León, Mexico, and each style is named after an Austin street. A Goodyear welt is a leather strip stitched between the upper and the sole, so the boot can be resoled instead of replaced. See Goodyear welt construction.

The house has two more boot makers. Hevias makes premium men's boots and shoes. Olsen-Stelzer builds made-to-measure boots, for the guest who wants a pair cut to their own feet. Read more in custom cowboy boots explained.

Can boots be engraved at a boot party?

Yes. Custom engraving is available at an additional charge. It suits wedding parties, years-of-service gifts and client gifts, where a name or a date makes the pair personal. Ask for it when Alvies follows up on your booking.
