Where Are Cowboy Boots Made? Brand by Brand

The place a boot is made shows up in the build. Read each maker's own words.

Cowboy boots are made in Texas factories, Arizona custom shops, León in central Mexico, and partner factories in Asia. Each brand states where its own boots are made, and the wording matters. This guide sets those statements side by side, with every qualifier kept and every source named.

Most pages on this question tell the history and stop. This one reads the makers' own words brand by brand, and adds León, Guanajuato, which Gear Patrol calls the shoe capital of the world. None of the first five web results names León as a boot-making center.

Statements were read on each brand's site or in the named press on 29 September 2026. Brands change factories, so check the current page before you buy.

Where are cowboy boots made?

Cowboy boots are made in the United States, Mexico and Asia, depending on the brand and the collection. Many makers name a factory city such as El Paso, Mercedes, or León. Others describe regions or collections.

Where are Ariat boots made?

Ariat says its products are designed and developed in the US and manufactured around the world. Its Help Center names no single country for the brand as a whole.

Ariat's Bench Made collection page says those boots are handcrafted in León, Mexico. Its Europe storefront runs a "Made in Mexico" collection described as handcrafted in Mexico.

Where are Tecovas boots made?

Tecovas says everything is designed in Austin, Texas, and its heritage-made cowboy boots are handcrafted in León, Mexico. The same FAQ says its performance-minded footwear is made by hand in Vietnam.

Tecovas adds that its Kids collection is handcrafted at a family-owned factory in India. The answer changes by collection.

Where are Lucchese boots made?

Lucchese says it manufactures in its own factory in El Paso, Texas, and also partners with factories around the world. Its FAQ says the Frontier Tech line is crafted in a partner factory in China.

Lucchese lists "Other Sourced" styles as handcrafted in Brazil or Mexico, and says they are inspected on arrival at the El Paso factory.

Where are Justin and Tony Lama boots made?

Justin's story page refers to "the factory in El Paso, TX." Justin labels a filtered set of its boots "Made in the USA with Global Parts," and that label covers the set rather than the whole line.

Tony Lama says the boots on its Made in the USA collection page are crafted in its El Paso, Texas factory and are made in the USA with global parts. Both brands keep "global parts" in the label, so read it as written.

Which cowboy boots are made in the USA?

Several makers name a US shop or factory. Rios of Mercedes says its factory is in Mercedes, Texas, and its craftsmen still handmake every pair. Anderson Bean says it builds each boot by hand in the USA.

Lucchese names El Paso beside its partner factories, and Justin and Tony Lama use the "Global Parts" label on named collections. Twisted X says its USA Built collection is assembled in the USA. D Magazine reports the company shifted some of its boot assembly to the United States, and Footwear News reports it declined to name the factories.

In a piece it authored for Cowboys & Indians, Paul Bond Boots places its boot shop in Nogales, Arizona, making handcrafted custom boots.

What happened to Nocona boots?

KAUZ / NewsChannel 6 in Wichita Falls reported in July 2025 that Nocona Boots are no longer manufactured in the town of Nocona, Texas. The report gives no current location, and Nocona's homepage lists none.

Why is León, Mexico a boot capital?

Gear Patrol writes that León, in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, is the shoe capital of the world. It reports that Mexico produces upwards of 250 million pairs of shoes, and that 70 percent of them are made in León.

The magazine reports that Goodyear-welting technology eventually made its way south of the border to León, and that Goodyear-welted shoes were then added to the city's specialties. It adds that top-tier brands look to León for its skills, and for its margins too. Our guide to Goodyear welt construction explains the build.

MR Magazine describes Old Gringo as widely recognized as having the largest handmade boot factory in the world, handmade in León. That is MR Magazine's wording.

Where are Alvies and Hevias boots made?

Alvies and Hevias boots are handcrafted in León, Mexico. Alvies states this on its FAQ. Hevias says its boots are built in León and that it owns its supply chain from material sourcing to final construction.

Every Alvies boot is Goodyear welted, and Hevias welted boots can be resoled. Read the Alvies boots guide and the Hevias boots guide, or browse the full boot collection.

Which brand should you pick if origin matters?

Pick a brand that names its factory. Rios of Mercedes, the El Paso factories at Lucchese and Tony Lama, Old Gringo, and Alvies and Hevias each give a place you can find on a map.

Pick a collection page when you want a specific claim, and read its qualifier: "with global parts" and "some assembly" mean what they say. Pick León-built boots when Goodyear-welt skill is the priority, since Gear Patrol names that as the city's draw.
